Daniel Motsinger

Wine and Beverage Director

Daniel Motsinger began his career in restaurants at the age of 19 as a garde manger and pastry cook at the Roaring Gap Country Club in North Carolina.  It was there he fell in love with food.

Originally from North Carolina, Daniel moved to Boston to pursue his passion as a creative writer and his desire to live in a city.  He attended Emerson College in Boston majoring in fiction.  While earning his degree, Daniel embarked on his first front of house position at the renowned restaurant Pigalle.  After starting as a backwaiter, Daniel moved behind the bar within his first year at the restaurant.  This was where he began his education about wine and the craft of the cocktail. While working behind the bar at Pigalle, Daniel had his first taste of Gewurztaminer, which began his new love affair with wine.  During his two and a half years at Pigalle, Daniel was able to expand both his palate and his passion for wine.

In 2005 Daniel began his career at Radius.  He started out behind the bar, where he further immersed himself into wines and cocktails.  Daniel left Radius for a few months, only to learn how much he enjoyed being a part of the fine dining experience.  In late 2007 he returned to the bar and was promoted to Wine and Beverage Director at the beginning of 2008. 

As Beverage Director, Daniel has a very fun and interactive approach to the fine dining experience.  He enjoys both the hospitality and education of wine pairings, helping guests to choose what they like, while helping them to discover new wines.  Along with creating our wine list, Daniel helps the bar come up with new cocktails that are based on seasonal ingredients.  On many a Saturday, Daniel can be found assisting Chef Schlow in the Cooking Class series where he pairs innovative libations with Chef's delicious dishes.
