About US

If you want to know Radius at its heart, you'll find it here.

We've each traveled very different paths to get here, and found unique opportunities and adventures along the way. Every day Radius is a personal expression of what we've learned, and a continual discovery of what we're becoming as culinarians and hospitality providers.

Nick Heilmann

Assistant General Manager

Nick Heilmann began his relationship with Radius in service positions during off season winter months, on breaks from running his business on Cape Cod.

Once immersed in the creativity, camaraderie and passion for the excellence that is Radius, it was inevitable that the relationship would blossom. He was impressed and enamored to the point of making the daily commute from the Cape to stay in the Radius fold. Nick has always found himself compelled to do more in his work life, resulting in upward movement, regardless of the initial intent. With a permanent move to Boston in 2008, his work with Radius began in earnest and he soon secured a position as assistant general manager.

Nick began his hospitality career in New York while attending Fordham University. He started off as a bar back at Limelight and the Tunnel Club, as well as other sundry dens of iniquity that made up the Manhattan club scene of the late 1980s. The impetuosity of youth, as well as a natural inclination toward hospitality led him away from opportunities in advertising and journalism to a diverse path in the world of restaurants.

With a wanderlust stemming from a childhood in England, South Africa and Europe, Nick has worked in service and management positions in Baltimore, Los Angeles and Western Massachusetts. The most influential of these was a six year tenure with Damiano DiPaola at Carmelina’s Ristorante in Hadley, where he feels he was first in the presence of a true passion for the business.

Nick settled down to family life on Cape Cod in 2000.  After a return to service positions at the Regatta of Cotuit and the Impudent Oyster in Chatham, he took the plunge into restaurant ownership. In 2004 Nick completed the conversion of a failing wine and cheese shop on Chatham’s Main Street into the Anytime Café. The Café was a hit from the start and matured into a well loved fixture for full service lunch and dinner to the throngs of visitors to the Cape over the next five years. Expansion plans thwarted by seating restrictions and Chatham’s fanatical Historical Society, Nick passed the torch and sold the business in March 2009, allowing him to focus full time on all things Radius.

When not at work with the Radius team in pursuit of providing our guests with a truly memorable evening, you will find Nick indulging the two other loves of his life; his sons Cooper, age 11, and Ezra, age 8.
